Filing Fees
In addition to the cost of using the TennesseeOnlineDivorce.com service, every spouse who initiates a divorce case has to pay a court filing fee. In Tennessee, this fee ranges from $205 to about $280, depending on the county. The fee is required to be paid when the plaintiff submits the divorce documents to the Clerk of the Courts. You pay the filing fee, and the clerk assigns the case a case number officially initiating the divorce process.
Those spouses who cannot afford to pay the filing fee due to financial hardship may request an exception. They can file a specific fee waiver form called Request to Postpone Filing Fees and Order.
